French Roulette
General information
How to start playing?
Buy the chips from the croupier and place a bet. If you are not sure how and where to place a bet, ask the croupier and he will place it for you.
What is the aim of the game?
Simple – all you have to do is guess where the ball will land. You can choose to risk less (by placing inside bets or special bets where you cover several numbers simultaneously) or you risk more. It depends on how much you want to win: the lesser the chances of a hit, the higher the winnings.
Start placing the chips when the croupier says: “Faites vos jeux.” Stop when he says: “Rien ne va plus”, which means that bets are no longer allowed.
Types of bets and where to put the chips:
You can choose between outside, inside and special bets. Simple and combined bets refer to the numbers on the table, and special bets refer to the numbers on the wheel.
Simple bets and inside bets.
Only one or two possible distributions are represented for each bet.
Outside bets
A, B: Red or Black – Will the ball land on a number in red or a number in black? Pays 1: 1.
C, D: Pair or Impair – Will the ball land on an even or odd number? Pays 1: 1.
E, F: Manque or Passe – Will the ball land on a number from 1 to 18 or from 19 to 36?? Pays 1: 1.
G, H, I: Premiere, Milieu or Derniére Douzaine – Will the ball land on a number from 1 to 12, 13 to 24 or from 25 to 36? Pays 2: 1.
J: 1st, 2nd or 3rd Column – Will the ball land on one of the numbers in the column you have selected? Pays 2: 1.
If the ball lands on zero and you have placed an outside bet, you can choose that the croupier returns half of your bet. Otherwise your bet will be imprisoned (the so-called enfermée), which means that if in the next round the imprisoned bet wins, the bet is freed and it becomes all yours.
Inside bets
K: Six lines – The ball will land on one of six adjacent numbers. Pays 5: 1.
L: Corner – The ball will land on one of four adjacent numbers. Pays 8: 1.
M: Street – The ball will land on any of three numbers in a transversal line. Pays 11: 1.
N: Split – The ball will land on one of two adjacent numbers. Pays 17: 1.
O: Straight up – Feeling lucky? Guess the number on which the ball will land. Pays 35: 1.
